This course is approved by the Kansas Board of Regents for guaranteed transfer among all Kansas Regents public postsecondary institutions. Additional courses may also be eligible for transfer. This course consists of 60 clock hours of law enforcement training provided in addition to the 540 hours required by the Kansas Minimum Standards Training Act for recruits attending the Police Academy. While the required 600-hour curriculum is provided without fee, enrollment in advanced training is required of all those attending the academy. The curriculum covers law, criminal investigations, patrol procedures, defensive tactics, report writing and specialized training required by local law enforcement agencies.

Program Outcomes
Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is committed to offering high-quality affordable programs that focus on developing knowledge and skills conducive to life-long learning. Both the General Education Student Learning Outcomes and Institutional Learning Outcomes convey JCCC's approach to programmatic outcomes. Additionally, students who successfully complete the Police Academy program from JCCC will be able to facilitate:
- Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Safety- the end result of a prescribed course of action or a technique that, if properly followed by the officer, will provide a greater level of safety in a variety of environments, events, and situations.
- Legal Understanding and Application- procedural knowledge of federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to the actions of LEO and the enforcement of those laws.
- Investigations- the ability to investigate any crime from its beginning to its eventual disposition; either as an individual or as part of an investigatory team.
- Fitness for Duty/Resilience- being able to do the things officers must do with lasting strength in the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional areas required of LEOs.
- Procedural Justice- exhibiting fairness in policing while giving people a voice; and performing law enforcement duties with impartiality and the necessary level of transparency to sustain and strengthen public trust.
- Report Writing/Testifying- the ability to write clear, intelligent, and accurate representations of events and situations and provide accurate testimony and descriptions of those events when requested to do so.
- LEO Duties/Behaviors- the duties and behaviors incumbent upon a LEO who acts in ways that support the needs of the community and profession, while carrying out the responsibilities of an officer and a member of their respective community.
