The floriculture certificate program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and job skills for employment in the Floriculture Industry. Upon completion of the floriculture certificate, students will possess the competencies to be successful at entry-level or higher positions in the Floriculture Industry.

Both the General Education Student Learning Outcomes and Institutional Learning Outcomes convey JCCC's approach to programmatic outcomes. Additionally, students who successfully complete the Floral Design Certificate from JCCC will be able to:

  • Identify, research, analyze, and synthesize design solutions.
  • Create, arrange and stage designs for high-profile events, weddings and corporate functions.
  • Prepare large-scale floral designs within a budget
  • Manage small business operations, including finances and customer relations
  • Work with a variety of materials, including popular dried and silk arrangements
  • Understand the principles of design, compositions, scale, proportion, balance, unity, harmony, rhythm and focal emphasis.
  • Prepared for a variety of entry-level positions.
