This course will introduce the research, pedagogy, and basic principles of educational technology. While introducing various types of technology that can be found in the school systems, the course will offer the instructional strategies paired with apps and programs to instruct, engage, promote collaboration, embed creation and assess students. The course will include foundations of how to teach digital citizenship and develop digital literacy skills. Students will be prepared to enter the school systems and identify how technology can enhance their classrooms.

Applicants for the Education major will be reviewed on factors such as cumulative college GPA, number of credit hours taken at Avila, on campus interview, and patterns and trends in academic history indicating potential for success.   A minimum of 120 hours is required for the degree; at least 64 semester hours must be completed at four-year institutions. The final thirty (30) hours must be completed at Avila University. A minimum GPA of 2.0, “C” is required for graduation in all work attempted, including transfer credits. At least 12 upper-division hours in the major must be completed at Avila. No more than seventy-five hours may be transferred as credit from a community college. All programs consist of coursework in General Education, a Teaching Field, and Teacher Education. Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Lisa Hood School of Education 913-971-3868 Accelerated Elementary Education Unified B.S. degree lbhood@mnu.edu Academic Year 2025-2026 www.mnu.edu Program Description All MNU students must complete general education courses however, completing an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree or the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at JCCC will satisfy all the general education requirements at MNU, except 3 hours of the Faith Integration requirement. JCCC students transferring to MNU without completing the A.A. or A.S. will have transfer courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Therefore, it is recommended that students complete either the AA or the AS before transferring. The JCCC A.A . degree and the JCCC A.S. degree each require completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses.  Admission Requirements If students have completed an AA or AS degree, they are only required to fulfill the Faith Integration (3 credit hours total) area of the general education requirements. Admission Requirements Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in the general education courses. Maintain a 2.75 overall GPA.
