Health Information Systems Program
This program prepares the learner to provide user support for health information systems and design and deliver training programs to employees in clinical and public health settings.
The certificate program will provide students with the knowledge and skills to assist healthcare providers in designing workflow and utilizing electronic health records (EHRs) and other technologies to meet government quality reporting standards and quality improvement initiatives.
The two-year Associate degree expands upon the certificate program and opens the door to transfer and career advancement opportunities.
Health Information Systems Specialist Certificate
The 27-hour certificate prepares students to provide user support for health information systems and design and deliver training programs to employees in clinical and public health settings. Students develop the knowledge and skills to assist healthcare providers in designing workflows and using electronic health records (EHR) to meet government standards of quality reporting and improvement initiatives.
Health Information Specialist Certificate
Students train in simulated environments developed by Oracle Cerner, the nation’s leader in health information, and EHR technology. Oracle Cerner’s products are in use at more than 27,500 facilities worldwide.
Students learn to:
- Monitor electronic health record (EHR) functionality and usability
- Create, analyze, and secure health information and health data
- Configure, implement and maintain health information technologies
- Deliver training to adult learners
- Analyze and redesign healthcare workflows
- Use correct medical terminology
- Build your résumé with an internship and/or mentorship that will give you real-world experience
