Many required lower-level and general education coursework must be completed prior to entering the BBA program

The KU School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which is the gold standard of quality in the world of business education. Applying for Admission

See University Admission Requirements to apply and be admitted to the University of Kansas.

  • Submit an official transcript from each college attended.
  • Students who have completed all requirements for admission to the BBA program with appropriate GPAs will be admitted to the School of Business as BBA students. See the information below about being admitted to KU as a pre-BBA student.

Other Academic Considerations

  • Completing Courses as a Pre-BBA Student: In the instance that one or more of the pre-admission foundation courses and KU Core requirements has not been completed before transferring to KU, the student may apply to the University and be classified as a pre-BBA student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences until meeting the minimum requirements to apply to the BBA program. Some students enroll at both JCCC and KU concurrently as they transition into the BBA program. Students intending to apply to KU as a pre-BBA student should meet with the Academic Advisor before applying.
  • Pre-admission courses should be taken for a letter grade and not for pass/fail or credit/no credit.
  • The BBA program allows for elective course options (number varies by student) that can be counted within the maximum community college credit hours AND the total credit hours required for graduation.
  • Developmental and most technical courses do not transfer to the University of Kansas. Visit KU CredTran to determine if a course transfers to KU.
  • Students must earn 120 hours for graduation.
  • Students completing an associate’s degree at JCCC must have 60 hours. Students should work with a JCCC counselor to include BBA course requirements into the associate degree.
  • A maximum of 75 hours may be transferred to KU from community colleges. Students should be aware that 45 junior/senior credit hours are required for completion of the bachelor’s degree; 30 of those hours must be at KU; and community college courses do not transfer as junior/senior hours.
  • Only transfer grades of “C-“ or higher apply toward graduation from the KU School of Business.
  • Students transferring to KU, with an Associate of Arts (AA)Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from JCCC will satisfy KU’s Core 34 general education curriculum.
  • Students who transfer to KU, without completing Associate of Arts (AA)Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree will have courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis toward meeting KU requirements. To learn more about courses that satisfy KU Core 34 Requirements and KU CredTran.
