Program Description
Transfer Admission Procedures/Qualifications
Application:
- File the SUNY Application online.
- Submit Supplemental Materials: Admissions Essay, School Transcripts, Portfolio, English Proficiency, and SAT and ACT Scores.
- Fall Semester Admission – January 1: Application Deadline; February 1: Supplemental Materials Deadline; April - May: All final transcripts and test scores must be submitted before students register for the fall semester.
- Spring Semester Admission – October 1: Application Deadline; November 1: Supplemental Materials Deadline; December – January: All final transcripts and test scores must be submitted before students register for the spring semester.
Transcripts:
- Arrange to have all official secondary and post-secondary transcripts sent directly from your schools to FIT. Electronic delivery of transcripts will be the quickest way to receive and process your documents. The Admissions office will accept electronic transcripts from the following approved vendors:
- Parchment
- SUNY Counselor Connect
- National Student Clearinghouse
- Naviance by Hobsons
- SCOIR
Transcripts may also be sent by mail in a sealed envelope to: Fashion Institute of Technology Office of Admissions, Room C139 227 West 27th Street New York City 10001-5992
Transcripts received by mail require additional processing time and may delay the completion of your application.

Tuition/Fees/ Expenses:
Full-Time Credit Fall and Spring Enrollment:
Baccalaureate-level, New York City/State resident: $3,585 per semester
Baccalaureate-level, out-of-state resident: $10,846 per semester
Fees:
Health Services - mandatory fee for full-time students: $161.50 per semester
Technology Fee - mandatory for all full-time students: $150 per semester
Student Activity Fee - mandatory for all full-time students: $65 per semester
Placement Test: $30 per semester
Monthly Payment Plan: $30 per semester
Patternmaking Course: $30 per course
Laboratory fee - charged to each student who registers for a course requiring life/fashion models and/or the use of certain specialized equipment or materials $20 per course
Health Insurance - This insurance must be purchased by all full-time students unless evidence of other coverage is submitted. See Health Services for more information. $2,925.00 annually
Recreation & Athletics Fee - mandatory fee for all full-time students: $63.25 per semester
SUNY Learning Network Fee - for students taking online courses: $15 per credit hour
Books and Supplies (estimated): $600 - $900 per semester

Financial Aid/Scholarships
Application Deadline:
- The FAFSA is available online starting on October 1. For priority consideration, FIT encourages you to file the FAFSA by January 15 for the fall semester and by November 1 for the spring semester.

- Students who had been receiving veteran benefits at another college must complete a Change Program/Place of Training form to receive benefits at the Fashion Institute of Technology:

- VA Form 22-5495 for Survivors and Dependents Education Assistance
- What to send your Fashion Institute of Technology VA Certifying Official:
- Copy of Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty DD Form 214 (if you are a Veteran)
- Copy of Change of Program or Place of Training documentation VA Form 22-1995 or VA Form 22-5495
- Copy of Certificate of Eligibility (you will receive this from the Buffalo Regional VA office once a determination on your eligibility is made)
