Program Description

KU’s RN to BSN Program is a flexible pathway designed for graduates of JCCC’s AAS in Nursing program who have earned RN licensure. Following completion of the associate degree, students complete KU BSN coursework fully online, building on prior nursing education and professional experience, and finish the program with a required 45-clock-hour leadership practicum completed at an approved site near their home. Fall 2026 starts will be offered on a part-time basis only, with students enrolling in 6 credit hours per semester and completing the program in approximately two yearsA full-time, 12-month option will return in Fall 2027.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold current, unencumbered U.S. RN licensure* and have completed at least 60 prerequisite credit hours (listed below) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, along with submission of an online application, a professional résumé, and three letters of reference.

* Due to the partnership between our two institutions, graduates of Johnson County Community College’s AAS in Nursing program are eligible to complete one semester of KU RNtoBSN coursework while in the process of obtaining licensure.

GPA Calculation: When calculating GPA, trasferable courses from all colleges and universities attended are considered. With the exception of intermediate algebra, remedial courses are not factored into the GPA. When a course is repeated, both the original and the new grade are factored into the GPA. Nursing courses in the AAS curriculum are factored into the GPA.

  • Application Deadline: To have an application considered for admission, all parts of the application (including transcripts and references) must be submitted by December 1 for spring semester admission, April 1 for summer session admission, and July 1 for fall semester admission.
  • Pass/Fail Policy: No Pass/Fail courses are accepted.

It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to check for updates to all transfer information. This transfer guide is provided as a service and is updated as needed. Degree requirements at the four-year colleges are subject to change by those institutions. To ensure you have the most accurate information about the program, you must meet with an advisor at the transfer institution.
