Program DescriptionKU’s RN to BSN Program is a flexible pathway designed for graduates of JCCC’s AAS in Nursing program who have earned RN licensure. Following completion of the associate degree, students complete KU BSN coursework fully online, building on prior nursing education and professional experience, and finish the program with a required 45-clock-hour leadership practicum completed at an approved site near their home. Fall 2026 starts will be offered on a part-time basis only, with students enrolling in 6 credit hours per semester and completing the program in approximately two years. A full-time, 12-month option will return in Fall 2027. | |
Admission RequirementsAdmission Requirements: Applicants must hold current, unencumbered U.S. RN licensure* and have completed at least 60 prerequisite credit hours (listed below) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50, along with submission of an online application, a professional résumé, and three letters of reference. * Due to the partnership between our two institutions, graduates of Johnson County Community College’s AAS in Nursing program are eligible to complete one semester of KU RN‑to‑BSN coursework while in the process of obtaining licensure. GPA Calculation: When calculating GPA, trasferable courses from all colleges and universities attended are considered. With the exception of intermediate algebra, remedial courses are not factored into the GPA. When a course is repeated, both the original and the new grade are factored into the GPA. Nursing courses in the AAS curriculum are factored into the GPA.

Arts and Humanities: 3 hours. Must be in a different discipline than PHIL. Visit the KU Core 34 General Education guide for JCCC equivalents.
Electives: 9-12 hours. Applicants must have a total of 60 credit hours of prerequisite courses. The courses listed do not meet that total, so you will also need to complete additional electives of your choice. These electives can be any courses listed as transferable on KU’s CredTran but cannot exceed 8 credit hours of performance-based credit. Examples of performance-based courses include physical education courses and technique courses in art, music, and dance.
