Transfer Admission Procedures/Qualifications
- To apply visit Fort Hays State University (FHSU) admissions to complete an application.
- Undergraduate application fee is $30 non-refundable.
- Request official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities to be sent to the FHSU Registrar’s Office at 600 Park St. Hays, KS 67601.

- Effective Fall 2022 -
- transfer students who have completed an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) program at a Kansas community college will have fulfilled all FHSU general education requirements.
- transfer students who have not completed an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) program from a Kansas community college and have completed a minimum of 36 credit hours must complete the KBOR system-wide general education program requirements.
- transfer students who complete an AA or AS program through the Kansas Board of Regents’ Reverse Transfer Program within one year of matriculation to FHSU will have fulfilled all FHSU general education requirements upon receipt of an official transcript indicating conferral of the credential.
- International student application fee is $50 and prospective students can view more details online.
- Students must reapply if they have been out of school for more than two semesters. If they have attended FHSU at any time, no application fee is required.
- Students who have been academically suspended from FHSU for poor scholarship will be provided the right to appeal following their first academic suspension. Students who have been suspended before will not be provided the right to appeal. They will be required to lay out for a period of at least one semester during which they should reconsider and re-evaluate their plans. Students enrolling at another school during their period of suspension from the University will be expected to achieve a minimum of a “C” average at that school. An official transcript from other institutions must be sent to the Office of the Registrar. Each application will be considered on its own merits by the Academic Reinstatement Board. Reinstatement is not automatic. An application for Academic Reinstatement can be found on-line.
- Students who have been academically dismissed from the University cannot be reinstated unless they have taken courses at a regionally accredited institution to transfer in to raise their cumulative GPA to 2.0 or higher. An official transcript from other institutions must be sent to the Office of the Registrar.
- If you are a transfer student under the age of 21, with less than 24 credit hours you must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous college work and meet the freshman qualified admissions requirements.
- If you are a transfer student with 24 or more credit hours, you must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous college work.
- ACT/SAT scores are not required for transfer students with 24 or more credit hours.
- FREE unofficial evaluations can be submitted online.
- Degree summaries are available for admitted students.
