Addiction Counseling, BS

Program Description

The Bachelor’s in Addiction Counseling will equip students with the skills and knowledge to deliver effective rehabilitation services for individuals struggling with addiction. The degree will allow graduates to work with diverse populations in a variety of individual and group settings at correctional facilities, treatment centers, hospitals, clinics, and more. 

The BS in Addiction Counseling requires 120 hours. No more than seventy-five hours may be transferred as credit from a community college. Each student must complete 20 of the last 30 hours of resident credit at K-State. A minimum of 45 hours must be at a course level of 300 or higher.  

JCCC General Education/Transfer Program

The Associate of Arts, AA, at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor's degree programs. Students pursuing the AA may select courses that satisfy both the AA degree requirements and lower-division requirements for a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the AA allow students to complete additional general education and lower-division courses required for specific majors. The AA degree requires completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended to select appropriate courses.  

Admission Requirements

• Applicants must first be admitted to Kansas State University either as an incoming freshman or a transfer student. To apply for admission to Kansas State University, complete an application online and have official transcripts from all previous colleges sent directly to the Office of Admissions, Kansas State University, 119 Anderson Hall, Manhattan, KS, 66505-0102, or faxed to 785-532-6393 or emailed via electronic transcript service to Office of Admissions for review. 
• For students transferring to K-State with fewer than 24 credit hours, please also send a final high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores.
