Program Description

The University of Kansas Community College Nursing Partnership offers the comfort and convenience of being a nursing student at JCCC while pursuing both the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing (AAS) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The program bypasses the traditional pre-licensure associate degree nursing step. Instead, this curriculum makes it possible for students to complete the AAS and BSN through on-campus courses at JCCC and online courses through KU. After completing the program, students are awarded both JCCC’s AAS and KU’s BSN.

Admission Requirements

  • Admission Requirements: Applicant must be admitted to JCCC’s AAS in Nursing program and complete 62 credit hours of community college specific prerequisite credit hours (listed below) with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50, a professional resume, and three letters of reference in addition to the online application.
  • Application Deadline: Students must begin both the BSN and AAS nursing curriculum during the same fall semester. To have an application considered for admission, all parts of the application (including transcripts and references) must be submitted through the KU Medical Center online application site by July 1 for your anticipated start date.  Admission decisions are made as applications are received. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.
  • GPA Calculation: When calculating GPA, all non-vocational and non-remedial courses from all colleges and universities attended are considered. Except for Intermediate Algebra, remedial courses are not factored into the GPA. When a course is repeated, both the original and the new grade are factored into the GPA. Courses that do not transfer are not factored into the GPA.
  • Pass/Fail Policy: No Pass/Fail courses will be accepted. Courses with grades of “D” or “F” will not be counted towards the degree.
