Program Description

Enrollment is limited and early application is encouraged. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the professional program.  Applications for the graduate program can be obtained through the Rockhurst University's website.

  • Transfer Pre-Admission Guarantee into the graduate program at time of transfer. Minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of transfer. Maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA each semester, a 3.5 science AND cumulative GPA at the end of the Fall semester prior to beginning the PT program.
  • Post-baccalaureate students are considered for entry into the program on a competitive basis. Applications may be submitted in the Summer semester prior to the anticipated starting date.
  • Students pursuing a PT transfer pre admission spot must contact the graduate admissions office at time of transfer.

Requirements for Admission: 

Applicants for the doctoral degree in Physical Therapy must show evidence of the following in order to be considered for admission:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution in a discipline other than physical therapy 
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher, all prerequisites 3.2 GPA, and science prerequisites 3.5 GPA is required. 
  • Completion of at least three professional references 
  • Completion of personal essay
  • Completion of all materials in the online application .
  • Participation in a personal interview 
  • International student must submit the TOEFL - Internet based minimum score of 80, or iTEP score of 3.9 (Scores must be within the last two years), or proof of graduating from a college where English is the primary mode of instruction). 
  • Completion of all designated prerequisite courses by the end of the Spring semester prior to beginning the professional curriculum as listed below:

  • Embryology and Histology are recommended.
  • Completing an Associate of Arts degree (Liberal Arts) at JCCC will satisfy most lower level general education requirements at Rockhurst. 
  • Students who transfer before completing their AA at JCCC should inquire at Rockhurst about Missouri Reverse Transfer. 
  • Students planning to earn an undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University should consult the General Core Requirements sheet and the Rockhurst catalog for specific requirements for your major.
