Transfer Information Office of Admissions University of Missouri – Kansas City 120 Administrative Center 5115 Oak Street Kansas City, MO 64112 Transfer Admission Procedures/Qualifications Application: - Complete an application for admission.
- $45 application fee (non-refundable). Currently, the application fee is waived for all undergraduate applicants.
- Request official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities be sent directly to the UMKC Office of Admissions. Transcripts are considered official if they are received in a sealed envelope or sent electronically to the Office of Admissions through Parchment, National Student Clearing House, or eScrip-Safe. Students applying to transfer with 23 or less than 23 credit hours must also submit an official high school transcript.
- Priority deadlines for scholarship consideration: Fall – May 1; Spring – Nov. 15.
- The standard admissions deadlines for transfer students: Fall – July 1; Spring – Nov 15. Applicants are encouraged to apply well before admissions deadlines. Visit Transfer Admissions for special program or department deadlines.
International Students: - $75 Application fee (non-refundable, waiver may not be available). Applicants should refer to the deadlines set Readmit Students: by the academic program they are applying to. If no deadline exists, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply well in advance of the semester start date.
- Application materials are required including academic records, proof of English proficiency, supplemental materials, passport and statement of finances, etc. Visit application documents for list of required documents.
- English proficiency – Applicants from countries in which English is not the native language are required to provide proof of English proficiency. Visit International Students for details.

Readmit Students: - Former UMKC students wishing to re-enroll should complete the Request to Re-enroll form if they meet the re-admit requirements. Visit the re-admit requirements for more information.
- Former students who do not meet the criteria linked above should use the criteria listed under “Transfer Qualifications.”
Transfer Qualifications: - Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale for admission to the University. Admission GPA is calculated by averaging together all courses taken, including repeats, regardless of whether or not it is applicable to a degree.
- Transfer students who have a 2.0 to 2.249 GPA should submit a petition for admission in addition to their admission application. Transfer students who have an associate’s degree are also eligible for petition.
- Admission requirements for some academic units may be more stringent. Visit the UMKC catalog for academic unit and/or program-specific requirements.
- Transfer students will be evaluated for admission solely on their college grades after completing 24 credit hours of transferrable college-level course work.
ACT/SAT: - Not required for admission to the University for transfer students with 24 or more transferable credits.
Transfer Evaluation: - Transfer students are encouraged to use Transferology to find how their credit hours transfer to UMKC. Our transfer specialists are happy to provide pre-advising service to help you understand how your credit hours transfer to your program.
- Student who are admitted to UMKC with an official transcript will receive an official credit report.
Campus Visit: Tuition/Fees/Expenses Tuition and Fees: - MO/KS Resident: $411.20+/hour
- Heartland Rate: $604.20+/hour
- Non-Resident: $1072.70/hour

Additional Fees: - Student Life fees and other additional fees may apply.
Room & Board: - On-campus: Varies by residence hall and meal plan, approximately $15,452. Meal plans are required for students who live on campus. Visit UMKC Housing for more information.
Books: - $785 (approximately) per year
Additional Expenses: - Miscellaneous living expenses for travel, social activities, sports tickets, parking permit, extra meals, etc., vary depending on the student.

- Priority Scholarship: Fall – May 1; Spring – November 15. Application is required by the priority deadline.
Scholarship Application - All new transfer students working on their first bachelor's degree transferring 24 or more college credits who submitted the application by May 1 for Fall term or November 15 for Spring term are considered for automatic scholarships, with the exception of students transferring to the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law. Unless states, no separate application is required. For competitive scholarships, applications may be required. Visit UMKC Financial Aid for a full list of scholarships.
Roo Advantage Scholarship: - All Pell-eligible Missouri and Kansas residents will automatically receive funds to cover any remaining tuition and fees! Visit Financial Aid for detailed eligibility.
Transfer Credit/Grading Policies Application of Credit: - At least 30 credit hours must be completed at UMKC to receive a UMKC degree. Check with academic unit for department policy.
- At least 36 upper-division (300/400) level credit hours must be completed at UMKC in your major.
- Application of transfer credit toward degree requirements is determined by each major department.
GPA Calculation: - Students' UMKC grade point average will include all classes taken at any UM System university.
- There are separate grade point averages for undergraduate, graduate, medicine, dentistry, law and pharmacy programs
Repeat Policy: - All grades shall be included in the GPA calculation for admission purposes. Once admitted, only UM System GPA is used for graduation purposes.
“D” Policy - Generally, courses with a grade of “D” will transfer. For some programs, a grade of “D” may not be used to satisfy specific requirements.
Time Limit on Credits - Credit over 15 years old at the time of application for graduation may not be applicable to a degree. Such credit may be subject to validation, at the discretion of the school/ department involved, before it can be used to satisfy degree requirements.
Credit Given for: - Credits given for some military courses, the appropriate score on AP, CLEP, IB and departmental exams. Visit test credit for more information.
