Program Description

The Associate of Arts, AA or the Associate of Science, AS degree at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the AA or AS may select courses that satisfy both the AA or AS degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the AA or AS allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The AA or AS degree requires completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses.

Admission Requirements

  • Baker requires 124 credit hours for the BS or BA degree. The last 31 hours of credit toward a Baker degree must be in residence.
  • Of the 124 hours, 39 hours must be in courses numbered 300 and above. Although designated lower college (100 and 200 level) JCCC courses may fulfill major requirements, they will not count toward the 39 upper division hour requirement.
  • The Baker Core is the central educational experience for all College of Arts and Sciences and Undergraduate School of Education students, no matter their major course of study.
  • Pass/Fail courses can be accepted IF the course syllabus explicitly states that a “P” is equal to a “C” or higher.
  • All transfer coursework must be a “C-” or higher.
  • Visit the Baker academic catalog for a more detailed explanation of graduation requirements and degree programs.
