Transfer Admission Procedures/Qualifications

Application: Bachelor of Science in Nursing:

  • Step 1: Check to make sure you have met the requirements to begin your application.
  • Have at least 44 prerequisite credit hours
  • Have completed 2 of 4 required natural science courses (Anatomy with lab, Chemistry with lab, Microbiology with lab, Physiology with lab) with a minimum of four credit hours in each science course
  • Have the required science courses that are no older than five years
  • Have not repeated required natural science courses more than one time
  • Have a minimum grade of "C" in all prerequisite coursework
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all prerequisite coursework
  • Have graduated from an accredited high school (GED and HiSET also accepted)
  • Are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or admitted to Rockhurst using an F1 Visa
  • If you have NOT met all of the above requirements, please complete the general Rockhurst application for admission. Once admitted you can take your remaining pre-requisites coursework at Rockhurst then competitively apply into the program when you are ready.
  • Step 2: If you meet those requirements, complete your application for admission.
  • To be considered you must send all official previous and current transcripts as a part of your application.
  • Rockhurst has 96 BSN seats open every Fall and 96 open every Spring. Applications accepted up to a year out.
  • The following items are required to complete the application:
  • Up-to-date transcripts should include Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) credits, and sent directly Enrollment for review.
  • Home-schooled students must provide proof of a GED or HiSET exam
  • A resume reflecting qualifications, work, and volunteer experience
  • If you have been enrolled in another nursing program, you must provide a letter from the dean/nursing program director on official college letterhead verifying reasons for withdrawal/dismissal and eligibility for readmission
  • BSN students will be under the standard undergraduate tuition rate and eligible for applicable merit and need-based scholarships.
  • If you will be completing your bachelor’s degree at Rockhurst in another program and want to complete a second bachelor's degree in nursing, you must apply for admission. 

 Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN):  

  • Submit Application for admission. Email Admissions with questions or to schedule an appointment.

Financial Aid/Scholarships

Application Deadline: 

  •  Rockhurst’s priority FAFSA date for maximum aid potential is February 1.

Transfer Scholarships:

  • Merit scholarships are awarded based on GPA: 

3.6 - 4.0:  Distinguished Scholar - $20,000/year

3.0 - 3.59:  Founder’s Scholarship - $16,000/year

2.6 - 2.99:  Endeavor Scholarship - $12,000/year

Phi Theta Kappa membership - $24,000/year. Proof of membership required. 

Transfer Advantage Scholarship: $500 

Transfer Credit/Grading Policies 

Application of Credit: 

  • Associate of Arts Degree meets Block Transfer requirements. Students will need to take 3 additional courses to fulfill Rockhurst Core Requirements.  
  • Associate of Science Degree meets Block Transfer Requirements. Students will need to take an additional 4 courses to fulfill the Rockhurst Core Requirements. 
  • Transfer credit is evaluated on a course by course basis if a student does not have an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science.
  • There is no Physical Education requirement.
  • A maximum of 64 credit hours can be transferred from a community college. 

GPA Required: 

  • A holistic review of applications will be conducted upon receipt of all requirements. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate from Rockhurst. 

Pass/Fail:

  • Coursework with a grade of Pass, Credit, or Satisfactory will be accepted only with documented evidence that such grades are at least equivalent to a minimum “C” grade. (Will not accept any course with Pass/Fail or “CR” grade for BSN coursework or C- grade) 

“D” Grades: 

  • Not accepted for General Education or Major requirements (unless as part of a block transfer). 

Time Limit on Credit: 

  • No time limit. (5-year time limit on natural science courses based on time of application) 

Credit Given for: 

  • Military Experience upon review of the Office of the Registrar 

CLEP Policy: 

  • General CLEP Examinations are not accepted. Subject Level Examinations will be reviewed by the Office of the Registrar
