Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the Kansas State University Andrew Wimp / Sonya Baker
785‐532‐1521 / 785‐532‐6904
College of Arts and Sciences, B.A. & B.S. transfer@k-state.edu / sdbaker@ksu.edu
Academic Year 2025-2026 artsci.k‐state.edu

Program Description

The Associate of Arts, AA at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the AA may select courses that satisfy both the AA degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the AA allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The AA degree requires completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses.

Admission Requirements

  • The College of Arts and Sciences is the home of the liberal arts and is the largest college at K‐State, offering more than 115 degree programs. The liberal arts include physical and biological sciences, the fine arts, the social sciences, the humanities and the quantitative disciplines.
  • Undergraduate degrees offered in the College of Arts and Sciences are: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Science.
  • A minimum of 120 credit hours are required for graduation. No more than seventy-five hours may be transferred as credit from a community college. Students must complete at least 30 resident credits to be considered for a degree. At least 20 of the last 30 hours must be completed at K‐State.
  • Students transferring to KSU, that complete the General Education requirements required for the Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from JCCC will be considered to have satisfied KSU’s core general education curriculum.
  • Students who transfer to KSU, without completing the General Education requirements required for the Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree will have courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis toward meeting KSU requirements. To learn more about courses that satisfy KSU Core Requirements and KSU Transfer Equivalency Tool.
  • Visit the KSU Core General Education Guide for JCCC equivalents.
  • DirectLink - an initiative between Kansas community colleges and Kansas State University to provide future transfer students with support as they prepare to make the transition to K-State. Visit DirectLink to register.
