Admission Requirements

Transfer Admission Process

Students who hold an Associate of Arts Degree from JCCC are considered to have fulfilled all UCM General Education requirements, except: 

  • Any major required course not previously taken. 

For students with an associate degree other than the Associate of Arts or who have not completed the AA, transfer courses are evaluated on a course-by-course basis. 

Requirements: 
  1. Attend an accredited college and/or university.
  2. Have a grade point average of “C” (2.0) or better. 
  3. Students with less than 24 hours must meet freshman criteria of 2.0 GPA, 21 ACT. Students applying to UCM with a 2.75 High School GPA or higher may be admitted without submitting an ACT or SAT test score. If a student has been out of high school for three years or longer, we do not need ACT and will base admission on GPA.
Application: ACT/SAT Scores:
  1. Fully complete the application form. 
  2. If the number of college credits is less than 24 hours, request that official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores be mailed directly to the Office of Admissions. Students with a High School GPA of 2.75 or higher are not required to send an ACT/SAT Score. ACT CODE: 2272 SAT CODE: 6090 
  3. Request official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended be mailed directly to the Office of Admissions OR sent via electronic transcript service for review. 

Application deadline: Rolling.  Priority deadline = April 1 for summer/fall; Nov. 1 for spring. 

Campus Visits: 

Students are invited to visit campus any day of the week at 9:00 am or Noon. Special visit days are also available. All visits can be scheduled through UCM Admissions.

Enrollment:

Newly admitted transfers will enroll with an academic advisor. Orientation consists of a virtual orientation program (VOP) and/or an on-campus orientation session. 

Cost

Academic Fees: 

Missouri Resident-Warrensburg: $297.00 per credit hour 

Lee’s Summit/Online: $297.00 per credit hour

Non-Resident: $594.00 per credit hour 

UCM BOUND Out-of-State Scholarship: 

University of Central Missouri will allow students from contiguous states, and South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Texas to pay the equivalent of in-state fees. To qualify, complete an undergraduate application for admission indicating your state of residence.  

Housing: 

Residence halls: $3,394 per semester double occupancy.  

UCM has a two-year residency requirement. This means that new transfer students who have less than 48 earned accepted hours or are not 21 or older by the first day of classes are required to live on campus. If you believe you qualify for an exemption based on another factor, including military status, family status, or housing arrangements with a parent or grandparent within 50 miles of Warrensburg, visit the University Housing for an exemption form. 

Meal Plan: 

Range from $2,076 - $2,375 per semester with three plans to choose from.  

Books: 

Approximately $600 per semester.

Transfer Red & Black Scholarship:

  • $2000   3.5+
  • $2500   3.25 – 3.49
  • $1000   3.0 – 3.24 

PTK Scholarship: $750 per semester

Mule Grant: This grant covers any tuition and general fees remaining after federal, state, institutional and private/outside grants and scholarships have been applied, Eligibility: Missouri Resident and less than $75,000 household per year. 

Transfer Credit/Grading Policies

Credit Hours: 

To receive a degree from UCM, all students must earn:

  • 120 credit hours, 30 upper level hours (3000-4000 level) and 20 of those hours must be completed at UCM,
  • 12 upper level hours in major, 30 hours from UCM, final 12 hours from UCM. 
GPA Calculation: 

Calculation of GPA for the bachelor’s degree includes grades from course work completed at UCM and transfer credit. 

Pass/Fail: 

Not acceptable for general education courses or courses in major. 

“D” Grades: 

“D” grades will be posted and will be included in GPA. Contact the academic department for specific information regarding how “D” grades may apply to general education and/or major requirements. 

Time Limit: 

No time limit on age of credit earned. 

Credit Given For: 

Experience based on education (through test-out procedures), military experience, department proficiency exams, independent study and CLEP (maximum 30 hours: 24 hours general).
