Liberal arts - 39 hours, Open electives – 6 hours, Studio courses – 75 hours. Kansas City Art Institute will consider transferring a maximum of 63 credit hours in liberal arts and studio courses that meet KCAI’s requirements, with a grade equivalent of “C” or better. Students cannot take the same classes to fulfill more than one liberal arts requirement. Students must take one 3-credit hour liberal arts class not based on the European tradition.  Developmental courses and physical education courses are not transferable. Applicants must understand that the number of transferable studio credit hours and the level of competence as indicated by the portfolio review are used to determine studio level placement. Students who choose to transfer to KCAI are required to complete AT LEAST two full years in a studio department. BFA degree program areas may be selected from Animation, Ceramics, Fiber, Filmmaking, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Product Design or Sculpture. Twenty-four of the final 30 credit hours MUST be completed at KCAI. Grades for transferred credit will not be calculated into the KCAI cumulative grade point average. Students pursuing the AA may select courses that satisfy both the AA degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the AA allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The AA degree requires completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a  JCCC counselor  is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses. WSU College of Fine Arts The College of Fine Arts at Wichita State is responsible for instruction, scholarly inquiry, performance, teacher education (art and music) and applied study in music, dance, theatre, and visual and media arts. The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, the School of Digital Arts, the School of Music and the School of Performing Arts (dance, theatre and music theatre) offer both general arts study and professional training programs at the undergraduate level; professional degrees are offered at the graduate level. The School of Music is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music; the dance program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance; and the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. All of these programs adhere to requirements for entrance and graduation that accord with the associations’ published criteria. The College of Fine Arts offers five undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Bachelor of Music (BM), and Bachelor of Music Education (BME). WSU Admission Requirements: If you are a transfer student with 24 credit hours or more, you must: Have a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale) on all previous college work. The Foundations Program is an integral part of the first-year experience for Visual Art majors. All undergraduate students, including B.F.A, B.A., and B.A.E., must complete two semesters (12 credit hours) of foundations before beginning upper-level studio classes. The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art is a four-year, 120 credit hour degree program. A maximum of 75 hours may be transferred to KU from community colleges. Students should be aware that 45 junior/senior credit hours are required for completion of the bachelor’s degree; 30 of those hours must be at KU; and community college courses do not transfer as junior/senior hours. The Visual Art Major Studies requires a minimum of 15 junior/senior hours in the major, a minimum of 15 major hours in residence, and a minimum 2.0 KU junior/senior grade-point average in the major. In addition to completing the online application for KU Admissions, a portfolio and responses to three short essay questions are required for admission to the Department of Visual Art in order to complete the application process and for admission to the major in Visual Art. Students interested in pursuing a double major may find it easier to pair the B.A. with other undergraduate degrees. After taking the foundations courses, students take their remaining studio courses from the seven Visual Arts studio areas: Ceramics, Expanded Media, Metalsmithing/Jewelry, Painting/Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Textiles/Fibers, and Photomedia (in the Design Department). Students transferring to KU, that complete the General Education requirements required for the Associate of Arts (AA) , Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from JCCC will be considered to have satisfied KU’s Core 34 general education curriculum. Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Admissions Office 913-782-3750 College of Arts and Sciences admissions@mnu.edu Academic Year 2024-2025 MNU.edu Program Description All MNU students must complete general education courses however, completing an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree or the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at JCCC will satisfy all the general education requirements at MNU, except the Faith Integration requirement. JCCC students transferring to MNU without completing the A.A. or A.S. will have transfer courses evaluated on a course-bycourse basis. Therefore, it is recommended that students complete either the AA or the AS before transferring. The JCCC A.A. degree and the JCCC A.S. degree each require completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses.  Admission Requirements Students who wish to transfer to MNU must apply at MNU.edu/apply. If students have completed an AA or AS degree, they are only required to fulfill the Faith Integration area of the general education requirements. All other general education requirements are considered met. Please note: MidAmerica Nazarene University is not participating in the Kansas (KBOR) Systemwide General Education framework. Certain majors may require specific classes in the general education core. Students should check the major’s specific section of the current MNU catalog for requirements or contact admissions@mnu.edu for assistance in obtaining a preliminary evaluation of their credits or connecting with faculty. Upper-division credit will NOT be given for lower division courses that are transferred in as equivalents to upper division courses. Courses from the Learning Center, Academic Achievement Center, and Learning Strategies will not transfer to MNU. These courses are considered remedial or developmental. With special approval from the Academic Success Center at MNU, required developmental courses at MNU could be waived with satisfactory completion of courses from these areas. No college credit will be granted for these courses.
