Kansas City Art Institute will consider transferring a maximum of 63 credit hours in liberal arts and studio courses that meet KCAI’s requirements, with a grade equivalent of “C” or better. Students cannot take the same classes to fulfill more than one liberal arts requirement. Students must take one 3-credit hour liberal arts class not based on the European tradition.  Developmental courses and physical education courses are not transferable. Applicants must understand that the number of transferable studio credit hours and the level of competence as indicated by the portfolio review are used to determine studio level placement. Students who choose to transfer to KCAI are required to complete AT LEAST two full years in a studio department. BFA degree program areas may be selected from Animation, Ceramics, Fiber, Filmmaking, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Product Design or Sculpture. Twenty-four of the final 30 credit hours MUST be completed at KCAI. Grades for transferred credit will not be calculated into the KCAI cumulative grade point average. WSU College of Fine Arts The College of Fine Arts at Wichita State is responsible for instruction, scholarly inquiry, performance, teacher education (art and music) and applied study in music, dance, theatre, and visual and media arts. The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, the School of Digital Arts, the School of Music and the School of Performing Arts (dance, theatre and music theatre) offer both general arts study and professional training programs at the undergraduate level; professional degrees are offered at the graduate level. The School of Music is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music; the dance program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance; and the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. All of these programs adhere to requirements for entrance and graduation that accord with the associations’ published criteria. The College of Fine Arts offers five undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Bachelor of Music (BM), and Bachelor of Music Education (BME). The General concentration (encompasses Drawing/Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Expanded Media) requires 51 major hours, including a minimum of 15 junior/senior hours in the major, a minimum of 15 major hours in residence, and a minimum of 2.0 KU junior/senior grade-point average in the major. The Ceramics concentration requires 51 major hours, including a minimum of 24 junior/senior hours in the major, a minimum of 15 major hours in residence, and a minimum 2.0 KU junior/senior grade-point average in the major. The Metalsmithing/Jewelry concentration requires 51 major hours, including a minimum of 30 junior/senior hours in the major, a minimum of 15 major hours in residence, and a minimum 2.0 KU junior/senior grade-point average in the major. The Photography concentration requires 76 hours with a minimum of 15 junior/senior hours in the major, and a minimum of 15 major hours in residence. Students must complete the Department of Art Foundation Core (ART 174, ART 180, ART 194, ART 200) or equivalent courses to go through the Portfolio process for either VCD or Studio Art concentration. JCCC students transferring to MNU without completing the A.A. or A.S. will have transfer courses evaluated on a course-bycourse basis. Although designated lower college (100 and 200 level) JCCC courses may fulfill major requirements, they will not count toward the 39 upper division hour requirement. The Baker Core is the central educational experience for all College of Arts and Sciences and Undergraduate School of Education students, no matter their major course of study. Pass/Fail courses can be accepted IF the course syllabus explicitly states that a “P” is equal to a “C” or higher. All transfer coursework must be a “C-” or higher. ANTH 135   American Indian Art (3 Hours)

This course will introduce students to some of the many art forms of the various American Indian nations of the United States. Media to be explored include textiles, beadwork, quillwork, basketry, pottery, painting, sculpture, and jewelry making. In addition, larger socio-economic issues that address American Indian art in relation to trade, art markets, and legal influences on American Indian art making will be discussed. Lectures, discussions, readings, films, and gallery visits will be used to accomplish this. Special emphasis will be paid to the collection of contemporary American Indian art housed in the Nerman Museum’s Indian Art Focus Areas. ANTH 135 is the same course as ARTH 135; enroll in only one.

ART 135   Painting I (3 Hours)

This course is an introduction to the basic elements of painting. Students will learn basic painting skills, color properties, color mixing, color relationships, applications and proper use of tools and equipment. 6 hrs. integrated lecture/studio/wk.
