Admission Requirements All students must apply for admission to the university. Applicants for the Education major will be reviewed on factors such as cumulative college GPA, number of credit hours taken at Avila, on campus interview, and patterns and trends in academic history indicating potential for success.   A minimum of 120 hours is required for the degree; at least 64 semester hours must be completed at four-year institutions. The final thirty (30) hours must be completed at Avila University. A minimum GPA of 2.0, “C” is required for graduation in all work attempted, including transfer credits. At least 12 upper-division hours in the major must be completed at Avila. Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Lisa Hood School of Education 913-971-3868 Accelerated Elementary Education Unified B.S. degree lbhood@mnu.edu Academic Year 2024-2025 www.mnu.edu Program Description All MNU students must complete general education courses however, completing an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree or the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at JCCC will satisfy all the general education requirements at MNU, except 3 hours of the Faith Integration requirement. JCCC students transferring to MNU without completing the A.A. or A.S. will have transfer courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Therefore, it is recommended that students complete either the AA or the AS before transferring. The JCCC A.A. degree and the JCCC A.S. degree each require completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses.  Admission Requirements If students have completed an AA or AS degree, they are only required to fulfill the Faith Integration (3 credit hours total) area of the general education requirements. Transfer students from community colleges and other universities are permitted to complete degree requirements in effect at the time of their enrollment as freshmen at a community college or university, so long as their enrollment was continuous from year to year (summer semesters excluded), programs have not been discontinued, and the program is not one of the following selective programs: Conservatory, Professional Teacher Education, Nursing Pre-Licensure. Students admitted into a selective program are required to complete catalog requirements for the term in which the student is fully admitted to the selective program. Missouri Higher Education Civics Achievement Examination To comply with a requirement passed into Missouri law in 2018, all students entering UMKC for the first time in Fall 2019 or after who have not previously completed a bachelor’s degree will be required to pass the Missouri Higher Education Civics Achievement Examination with a score of 70% or higher as a condition of graduation. Successful completion of this examination at any Missouri institution will fulfill this state requirement for degree completion when noted on the student’s transcript. Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the University of Missouri - Columbia General Education Program 573-882-1620 General Education Requirements generaleducation@missouri.edu Academic Year 2025-2026 generaleducation.missouri.edu Program Description The Associate of Arts, AA at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the AA may select courses that satisfy both the AA degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the AA allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The AA degree requires completion of 60 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses. Transfer credits for JCCC students are evaluated on a course-by-course basis at MU. Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the Kansas City Art Institute Advising 816-802-3302 General Education Requirements, BFA Academic Year 2025-2026 www.kcai.edu Admissions Requirements Transfer Student Admissions Requirements : To be considered for admission to KCAI, the following items must be submitted (unless noted as optional):  Application Personal Statement Portfolio - Students will submit a 10-15 image portfolio that will be assessed for scholarship and studio level placement. Students are encouraged to contact Julia Welles before submitting portfolio. Transcripts - It is the student’s responsibility to have an official copy of the transcript sent to KCAI’s Admissions Office as part of the application process and upon completion of the transfer course: Kansas City Art Institute Admissions Office 4415 Warwick Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64111 Standardized Test Scores (optional) AP or IB Credit - It is the student’s responsibility to have an official copy of the transcript(s) sent to KCAI’s Admissions Office: Kansas City Art Institute Admissions Office 4415 Warwick Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64111 (optional) Letter of Recommendation (optional) Degree Requirements Total program includes: 120 hours. Liberal arts - 39 hours, Open electives – 6 hours, Studio courses – 75 hours. Kansas City Art Institute will consider transferring a maximum of 63 credit hours in liberal arts and studio courses that meet KCAI’s requirements, with a grade equivalent of “C” or better. Students cannot take the same classes to fulfill more than one liberal arts requirement. Students must take one 3-credit hour liberal arts class not based on the European tradition.  Developmental courses and physical education courses are not transferable. Applicants must understand that the number of transferable studio credit hours and the level of competence as indicated by the portfolio review are used to determine studio level placement. Students who choose to transfer to KCAI are required to complete AT LEAST two full years in a studio department. BFA degree program areas may be selected from Animation, Ceramics, Fiber, Filmmaking, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Product Design or Sculpture. Twenty-four of the final 30 credit hours MUST be completed at KCAI. Grades for transferred credit will not be calculated into the KCAI cumulative grade point average.
